APPOINTMENT TO MONTREAL PORT AUTHORITY


OTTAWA The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Normand Morin of Montreal, Quebec, to the board of directors of the Montreal Port Authority for a period of three years.

NEW PARK BRIDGE OPENS AT KICKING HORSE CANYON
GOLDEN B.C. The new Park Bridge along the Trans-Canada Highway in Kicking Horse Canyon has been completed ahead of schedule. The announcement was made today by Jim Abbott, MP for Kootenay Columbia on behalf of the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, and British Columbia Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon.

THE GOVERNMENTS OF CANADA AND PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND TEAM UP TO MAKE P.E.I. TRANSPORTATION SAFER AND MORE RELIABLE
CHARLOTTETOWN Canada’s New Government and the government of Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.) today announced they will invest up to $47,350 for the deployment and integration of intelligent transportation systems in the province. The projects being funded will help make transportation in P.E.I. safer, more reliable and more efficient. Each government will contribute up to $23,675 for projects beginning now through to September 30, 2008.

CANADA S NEW GOVERNMENT FUNDS TRANSIT SECURITY IN ONTARIO

The Minister also announced the call for applications for the fourth round of funding under Transit-Secure, the Government of Canada s passenger rail and urban transit security contribution program.

CANADA’S NEW GOVERNMENT FUNDS TRANSIT SECURITY IN LAVAL
LAVAL, QUEBEC — The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister responsible for Quebec, today announced $187,500 in funding to enhance transit security in Laval. This funding provides the transit operator for the City of Laval with financial assistance to carry out risk assessments and to develop security plans.

COMPLETION OF HIGHWAY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR

JOHN S The completion of seven highway infrastructure projects along the Newfoundland and Labrador Trans-Canada Highway was announced today by the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, together with the Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works and Minister responsible for Labrador Affairs.
